Shakira: Para Cantar una Canción for Live Nation?
According to a July 1st report in the New York Post, the Colombian-born superstar Shakira is about to complete months of contract negotiations with concert promoter Live Nation.
The multi-million dollar deal for recording, touring and merchandising is expected to be finalized by the end of the year.
At present, the 31-year old Shakira is still under recording contract with Epic Records and has a greatest hits album plus one in Spanish and English to deliver.
Live Nation managed the US part of Shakira’s 2007 “Oral Fixation” tour, which reported grossed over $100 million. The new contract will expand their role beyond the current touring relationship with the Latin singer in a “360 deal” reportedly worth $70 million.
Madonna: Fifty, Sticky, and Sweet
Her last tour – 2006’s Confessions – earned $195 million in ticket sales, easily making the Material Girl’s tour the biggest grossing ever pulled in by a female artist. With Sticky & Sweet, she’s hoping to break her own record wide open.
This tour will feature her newest album, “Hard Candy.” Hardcore fans need not worry, however, because Madonna’s glamourous repertoire will also feature hits from the almost thirty years she has spent as the reigning queen of pop music.
Madonna hasn’t been looking well lately. Recent pictures surfaced that showed the pop siren looking emaciated and down right ill. Spokespersons from Madonna’s camp insist that the photos were doctored in Photoshop, but given her recent separation from her husband of eight years, Guy Ritchie, not to mention the fact that she is apparently furious at “protégé,” Britney Spears, for leaking early footage of the much anticipated concert tour, one has to wonder if she’s starting to cave into her age. Between adopting children and talking smack, Madge has been rather crucified in the media lately. One thing is for certain, this tour will likely spark a lot of controversy – but hey, she has to be used to that by now.
Former Disney Songstress Comes Clean: Lilo+Sam
Folks, it is finally official. Normally this probably would not qualify as “music news,” per se – except that, once upon a time, Lindsay Lohan did sing, plus Samantha Sam Ronson is, of course, a rockin’ DJ. Lilo has finally come out and admitted to dating Sam – for a very long time, as it turns out, which is no secret to anyone who’s paid any attention to photos of the two of them together. Lots of little tiffs have been reported but frankly, when they look at each other, they look just like my partner and me. I don’t agree with a lot of things Lindsay does or a lot of the things she stands for, but insofar as this goes, I wish her all the happiness in the world and hope that Samantha can be a good influence on her.
As well, this will undoubtedly make it easier for other actresses, musicians, et cetera, to feel comfortable talking about who they love, whether they are gay, straight, or bisexual.
So hey, congrats, girls. You should be commended for your bravery, at the very least.

Jackson Still The King Of Pop In Britain
Michael Jackson is still the King of Pop in Britain - the tragic superstar is the top-selling artist there in the year since his death.
As fans gather to mark the anniversary of his death at California's Forest Lawn Cemetery, where Jackson was laid to rest in September (09), officials for Britain's Official Charts Company have revealed the Thriller singer has sold 2.8 million albums and 1.5 million singles in Britain since his passing.
Jackson's sales have placed him ahead of Canadian singer Michael Buble, who has sold just over two million albums in Britain during the same period.
The firm's researchers have also listed Jackson's top 10 biggest selling singles and albums in the U.K. since his death, to mark the year anniversary.
Hit song Man In the Mirror was the most popular track, while Billie Jean, Thriller and Smooth Criminal all sold more than 100,000 copies in the last year. The biggest selling album in Britain since the singer's death is The Essential - selling just over 600,000 copies in 12 months.
EXCLUSIVE ALBUM STREAM: SHERYL CROW - 100 Miles from Memphis
It's been a few years since we saw an original studio album from Sheryl Crow, but with her latest single, "Summer Day," the rock's low-key, sunshine-y appeal returns in full force. It's the kind of song that makes you slow down for a minute and chill out with the best of them. The track, released digitally last month, comes from Sheryl Crow's upcoming album, 100 Miles from Memphis.
Crow fans can look forward to more songs like "Summer Day," that have less of the pop feel of earlier albums. In its place, we get a more soul-inspired album rooted in that slow-burning Memphis style.
Although 100 Miles from Memphis won't be released until July 20, MOG is offering an EXCLUSIVE STREAM of the entire album NOW.

Neither rain nor shine will stop Lady Gaga fans.
Neither rain nor shine will stop Lady Gaga fans.
The singer calls them her "Little Monsters," and they came in droves – more than 18,000, according to estimates – to see her perform Friday in Rockefeller Center for the Today show's Summer Concert Series.
And Gaga, 24, did not disappoint, singing for a full half hour for the record-breaking crowd despite the rain that turned the plaza into a steam bath.
Along with her hits "Bad Romance" and "Alejandro," the singer played a new tune, "You and I," which she wrote about "the most important person I've ever met," she said, referring to her former boyfriend, musician and bartender Luc Carl, with whom she recently reconciled.

Fergie is leaving the Black eyed Peas.

The rumor around town is that Fergie is leaving the Black eyed Peas.
But will.i.am. spoken up to squash the rumor, calling it “all lies.”
Last week, chatter began that Fergie wanted to leave the band because of ongoing tensions with will.i.am., and her desire to have a baby.
Video Usher Will.i.am. music video for OMG
A source told RadarOnline.com, “Fergie is saying she wants out of the band and the second half of the tour isn’t confirmed for early next year. Things have gotten really bad with Will.i.Am. And it’s not just Fergie who is clashing with him. So is the rest of the band. His ego is out of control. Fergie just wants to get away from the whole thing.”
“And she really wants a baby with Josh,” the source added. “Between that and the bad blood with Will, it looks like the 2011 tour is in big trouble and she’s saying she’s going to split for good.”
Fergie is too busy for kids.
But lucky for us fans, there’s apparently no truth to the rumor. will.i.am dismissed the reports - telling fans the Black Eyed Peas are "never breaking up".
In a post on his Twitter.com page, he wrote, "Don't believe gossip about Fergie leaving the group (we are never breaking up) it's all lies!!!"
Phew! Their music is at an all-time high right now—we’d be devastated if they broke up!
